Future Forward: Website Redesign

Introduction

Future Forward is a software development company based in the Netherlands that provides software development and IT consultancy services to a wide range of clients across different industries. As a tech company, their website is an essential part of their business, as it serves as a platform to showcase their expertise, services, and past projects. 

However, the previous website design did not effectively communicate Future Forward's brand identity and services, which made it difficult for potential clients to understand what they offer. Thus, the company decided to embark on a website redesign project to improve their website's user experience, design, and functionality. 

Challenge

After collecting valuable insights, the company had a clear goal of completely revamping their website to better represent the company and its services. The new website had to be visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive, as well as have improved SEO and technical performance.

The primary goal of the website redesign project was to create a website that could communicate Future Forward's expertise and services effectively. The existing website lacked consistency, clarity, and effective branding.

Solution

Our team started by creating a brand new design for the website, focusing on a modern and minimalist aesthetic. We began by reorganizing the content to make it more user-friendly and easily accessible. We created new pages for Home, About Us, How We Work, and Solutions, ensuring that each page was designed with clear call-to-actions and optimized for user experience.

Improvements 

1. The How We Work page was created to provide users with a clear understanding of the company’s processes and services. We included a step-by-step guide for clients to better understand the workflow and what to expect when working with Future Forward.
2. In addition to the new design, we added new imagery with a touch of style added, and polished the typography throughout the site. The new design is not only visually appealing, but also provides a better user experience.
3. To improve the SEO of the site, we created new content for each page, ensuring that it was 100% unique and optimized for search engines. We also added meta tags and descriptions to each page to further improve search rankings.
4. We integrated Calendly into the website to make scheduling appointments easier for potential clients. We also added Clutch.co awards to the footer on each page to highlight Future Forward’s industry recognition.
5. We also added a Zendesk support link to the website, allowing users to easily access customer support if needed.

Technical Improvements

1. We updated the website to use the latest version of Bootstrap, making it more responsive and mobile-friendly. We also added PurgeCSS, which removes CSS that is not used on the site, making the website faster to load.
2. To further improve performance, we removed jQuery and completely refactored the JavaScript for the site. We added lazy loading for images, improving load times and reducing the amount of data downloaded. We also added next-gen images (pbp, jpg -> webP) and resized images for web usage.
3. Finally, we removed heavy libraries like TippyJS and built custom scripts for tooltips, for example. We also changed the heavy script for the gallery with a lightweight one, further improving site performance.

Results

The redesigned website has received great feedback from both clients and internal stakeholders. Users have reported an improved experience on the website, with faster load times and a more intuitive design.

The new design has also resulted in an increase in website traffic and engagement, with more visitors spending time on the site and visiting more pages. The new content and improved SEO have also helped to improve search rankings, resulting in an increase in organic traffic.

The redesign of Future Forward’s website has successfully achieved the objectives set out by the company. The new design is visually appealing, user-friendly, and provides a better overall experience for users. The technical improvements have also resulted in faster load times and improved site performance.
