Ecological awareness is vital for your organization. Political regulatory bodies as well as the society as a whole demand that by 2050 every company becomes sustainable, climate-neutral, circular and inclusive. This is sometimes referred to as the 3Ps - People, Planet, Profit. It is therefore very important for your company to take its environmental impact into consideration at an early stage by choosing sustainable solutions.
Digital Signage or narrowcasting is one of the first steps towards a paperless office. Not only can it be used to boost an image of a company, but it can also make a real impact when it comes to reducing a company’s ecological footprint. For example, just think of all the printing paper that is saved by using a digital solution, not to mention the time savings and increasing efficiency when it comes to communication. Constantly printing things on paper costs money, causes pollution and is therefore not ecologically friendly. So why bother with it at all, when there is a much more efficient way available?
Digital signage is the ideal solution to improve both internal and external communication. At the same time, it also replaces paper as a primary means of communication. Most digital signage solutions use energy efficient LED screens. And although these screens are ''energy efficient'', they still consume a considerable amount of power. Especially if these screens are always running during office hours. In addition, they require a constant power supply - not very efficient in certain situations, right?
Low energy consumption
One of the main advantages of the E-ink Displays lies in their low energy consumption. This is partly due to their bistability. LCD or LED displays require an active driver that varies the polarity of the voltage across the pixel at a frequency of about 60 Hz. Unlike an LED screen, an E-ink display retains an image without consuming any extra power, even when all power sources are removed. An LED display annually consumes 40 to 100 KWh of electricity. This boils down to an average of 30 euros per year. On the other hand, an E-ink display only consumes 4 to 10 KWh, which equates to around 80 cents per year. E-ink displays significantly reduce costs, especially when multiple screens are used. The larger the E-ink display, the more electrical power can be saved compared to an LED screen of similar dimensions.
An E-ink display uses power only when the image it displays changes. Due to this bistability technology and low power consumption, our E-ink displays are 99% more energy efficient than LCD or LED screens.
This functionality has practical applications that extend far beyond e-readers. For instance, bus and train station signs, digital nameplates and wayfinding signage are ideal examples for the range of applications of E-ink screens.
Due to its ultra low power consumption and bistability, the battery installed in these devices can last up to 3 months. E-ink screens do not require a constant energy source and they connect securely to your wifi network. That's why E-ink displays are easy to mount on any surface, without cables and they can connect in any environment.
E-ink displays use ambient light and that is why they are also called "reflective displays". The light from the environment reflects from the screen onto your eyes. Just like with any reflective surface, the stronger the ambient light, the brighter the screen gets. This feature mimics traditional ink and paper. It ensures excellent legibility, day and night, in direct sunlight as well as under artificial light conditions, from any angle and without reflection.
Another advantage of E-ink displays lies in their long battery life. The E-ink displays used in Sustainable Signage are equipped with a powerful rechargeable battery, which can last up to 3 months on a single charge.
In addition to transforming the office into a modern environment, E-ink displays offer many advantages over paper and standard digital signage, such as time and cost savings and better environmental performance. They can be used to display traffic jams, travel times and important messages for employees and visitors. You can easily customize the content, thus avoiding unnecessary printing that comes with standard signage. Today, employees and visitors show more and more consideration for the environment. This is why organizations which are committed to sustainability and corporate social responsibility make a very positive impression.
Digital Signage also gets your message across a lot better. You can use it more efficiently and effectively, while at the same time consuming less energy.
